GE You GE You first made his mark internationally by playing the lovelorn villain in CHEN Kai-ge’s “Farewell My Concubine” in 1993. But it is his pitch-perfect performance in ZHANG Yi-mou’s “To Live” in the following year that made him the first Chinese artiste to win the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival. He then went on to become the most recognizable acting personalities in the Chinese mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
